The Sunshine Coast is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, known for their uniquely beautiful vantage points and rock formations overlooking the ocean. One might imagine that there are no places left undiscovered, but in truth there are some breathtakingly beautiful beaches, which until now have been among the Sunny Coast’s best kept secrets. There’s no better time to organise some Sunshine Coast accommodation and enjoy a weekend away to explore the secret beaches of the area.

Shelly Beach

Shelly Beach, located along the Caloundra coastline, is home to a myriad of marine species that reside in the rock pools, including sea cucumbers, barnacles and periwinkles. When you have finished taking in the natural wonders of the rock pools – run, dive, swim into the ocean and enjoy the magical healing powers of nature.

Happy Valley

The name says it all, and this Caloundra beach will be sure to deliver plenty of happy times for the whole family. Apart from the actual beach there are plenty of green areas to throw down a picnic blanket and a wonderful kid’s playground which is sure to keep the kids entertained for hours.

Point Cartwright

Point Cartwright Beach is another hidden jewel, of Buddina with a lighthouse that overlooks the unpatrolled beach, so you can head up there and check out the vast ocean view and take a picnic to enjoy. The beach is hidden along the headland of the Northern end of Kawana Beach with views across to Mooloolaba so it’s a great place to take your pooch along for a stroll. (There is some excellent pet friendly accommodation available on the Sunshine Coast.)

Mudjimba Beach

Located between Coolum and Maroochydore, at Mudjimba, this beach looks out to Mudjimba Island (also known as Old Woman’s Island), who according to Aboriginal legend lived there because of the Midyam berry bush which grew there.

Alexandria Bay

For those who fancy the idea of getting their gear off on the beach, Alexandria Bay is the beach for you. The nudist beach is only accessible by foot, located along the edge of the Noosa National Park, making it a private paradise. If you are less inclined to go the ‘full monty’ the walking track above it gives you a opportunity to appreciate the spectacular views of the ocean.
