Run along and/or witness 10,000 runners of all skill levels and ages celebrate the Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run.
The event aims to promote health, fun and community awareness. Now on its second year, the Sunshine Coast Marathon intends to not just double the number of competing runners, it also has the goal to contribute to relevant community groups as well as to its major beneficiary, the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Runners can select to participate in the 2km, 5km, 10km, half marathon or full marathon distances. Regardless of the course they choose, they will get to enjoy the area’s spectacularly fast and flat scenic course as they run along the best beaches of the Sunshine Coast.
Participants can also support one of the 700 charities by signing up for an Everyday Hero account. Last year alone, the Sunshine Coast Marathon raised $150,000.
The event will cater to anyone and everyone who wants to take part, including families or those with disabilities. Parents with prams or entrants in wheelchairs can similarly run and experience the fun.
Expect festive atmosphere and comfy winter weather. The marathon also offers spectators a multi-loop course as well as race day activities and markets the whole family can enjoy.
The Sunshine Coast Marathon will take place on August 25, 2013. The event precinct is located at Alexandria Headlands Surf Club with the start and finish area directly adjacent. It is a short drive from our Sunshine Coast Motels.
