Open from 9am to 4:30pm every day except Christmas, the gardens covering 12 acres of land is packed with amazing activities and experiences you’ll surely never want to miss.
At the Maleny Botanic Gardens, you will be hiking in the immaculate rainforest through the six kilometre long pathways. Once done, you’ll be able to view tons of colourful plants such as orchids, annuals, roses, azaleas, and some of the rarest amongst the cycads, or those seed plants with hints of woody and big trunks.
Then you can go into the gardens’ large Aviary called the Bird World. Opened only starting November 16, 2013, a lot of guided tours roam around here twice a day where people can take a stroll amongst the beautiful selections of about 360 native and exotic birds of different sizes like macaws, peacocks, finches, and a lot more.
Adorable animals are also to be found everywhere, and newer additions have been installed to make the place better and more fun to be at. Aside from turkeys, ducks, and chickens, among others, there are now cute and loveable animals like Queenie and Ginger the alpacas, Sparky the horse, Bah Bah the sheep, and Snowflake the billy goat.
For your tummies, you may want to visit Devonshire Tea. Since it is located in one of the gardens’ gazebos, you’ll get an amazing view of the gardens, mountains, and lakes, while sipping on the tea that’s served you with either of two date or wholemeal scones. At the present, only two food options are available, but you can bring in your own food and eat it picnic style amongst the tranquil atmosphere.
