Posted in Location & Attractions @ Jan 16th 2015 10:21am - By Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge

Having a weekend away with the family doesn’t have to cost the earth. The Sunshine Coast has some fabulous beaches to visit, rainforest and national parks to explore and some excellent free entertainment. And if you do your homework you can find reasonably priced accommodation.

Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge

Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge offers comfortable, clean and relaxing Sunshine Coast accommodation at old-fashioned budget prices. The rooms are spacious and there is also a pool and barbeque for chilling out after a day out adventuring. The Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge is close to Nambour, the beach and only a short drive to the lovely Blackall Range.

Ginger Flower and Food Festival – 23 – 25 January 2015

For lovers of flowers and delicious food this free event is a must. This is one of Australia’s best annual events and features loads of great entertainment. The festival takes place over three days at the world famous Ginger Factory, only a few minutes’ drive along the highway North of Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge, Woombye. This festival showcases the most extensive range of Ornamental Ginger plants in Australia with over 90 varieties on show and over 3,000 plants for sale. The colours are truly exquisite. The festival has activities for all age groups and includes famous chefs, gardening experts and entertainers. This is a real family festival and entry is free.

Coolum Flicks in the Park

This event is a real blast from the past. Free family movies are shown in Tickle Park in Coolum every Saturday night until 28th February 2015. Grab your blankets and pillows and head on down to the Park for a fun and free night of family entertainment. The movie starts around about 6.30pm – when it gets dark. There are lots of great eateries around if you feel like dinner beforehand.

The Sunshine Coast is a great place to take the family for a weekend. It is laid back, relaxing and affordable. Sure there are expensive hotels and costly entertainment, but there are also events and accommodation tailored to families who want to have fun without blowing the budget.
